Content Delivery Network
Utilizing a CDN is one of the simplest ways to accelerate your application’s response time. Through our partnership with CDNetworks, Blue Box bundles CDN services into your bandwidth pool at no additional cost and with no contract. International distribution of assets such as images, style sheets and javascript files shields your servers from spikes in asset requests. This allows your servers to stay dedicated to dynamic content generation, while at the same time providing users a much faster experience.
Load Balancing
Blocks load balancing provides an on-demand and highly available load balancing solution that scales with your application. A cornerstone of a Blue Box cluster, load balancing allows for the rapid and transparent growth of a cluster to handle additional traffic, without having to implement disruptive DNS changes or move your service around.
App Tier
Your application tier does all the heavy lifting for your cluster and thus requires maximum flexibility and a platform that will rapidly scale. A typical Blue Box cluster utilizes our virtual server product line for base capacity, supplementing this with Blocks on-demand cloud servers to handle spikes in traffic.
Database
As the foundation of your application’s infrastructure, your database tier needs to consistently deliver high performance. By utilizing bare metal, Blue Box is able to isolate your database operations from other customers, eliminating the “bad neighbor” problem commonly found on public clouds. Utility Servers
Using the Blue Box cloud infrastructure, you can either provision permanent utility servers to run your job queues and other administrative tasks or use our Blocks offering to start and stop these servers based on your workload. The beauty is in the flexibility of the offering.
